Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb is the biggest higher education institution in the field of humanities and social sciences in the Republic of Croatia. There are 320 highly qualified researches and experts currently working at the Faculty, as well as 120 young researchers out of a total of 750 employees in sciences, education, professional and administrative services. At the present moment, around 6000 students are pursuing a degree at the Faculty, at over 80 study programs in the field of social sciences and humanities. Due to considerable concentration of scientists and experts in different areas, the Faculty is successfully implementing complex scientific and applied projects which necessitate a broad scope of expertise and resources. Particularly relevant areas for this project, in which the employees of the Faculty possess the relevant knowledge, are sociology, psychology, pedagogy and information sciences, as well as humanities, such as ethnology, cultural anthropology, art, museology, cultural politics and other.
The matters of culture in its different forms constitute the main framework for the majority of research disciplines. That allows the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to analyse cultural and social phenomena in an integrative way. An extended expert pool from different research areas is ensuring a unique and interdisciplinary approach to research and analysis. Nearly all branches of art are a continuous topic of research at the Faculty. The latter includes art, literature, performance, theatre and film. The Faculty focuses on the phenomena of popular culture and media, as well as folklore, festivals and everyday culture. Social cohesion, social capital and quality of life represent the basic interest of researchers at the Department for psychology and Department for Sociology, as well as Department for ethnology and cultural anthropology. Traditionally, the Faculty has been focusing on analyses of migration, urban and rural development, the development of civil society and other.
At the present moment, 22 national projects funded from different sources are being implemented at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The projects are primarily financed by the Croatian Science Foundation, as well as 15 other European and international projects. In the past 10 years, the Faculty has implemented a series of research projects in the area of art, sustainable development, cultural heritage, management in culture, as well as bilateral projects such as: Museum interpretation in Croatia and Slovenia in the example of permanent exhibitions of art museums, National parks: The construction of heritage and the role of the state, Intercultural relations and education in minority languages, Theatre as a site of remembrance – Macedonian and Croatian experiences, Intercultural approach to Roma integration, Croat-Serbian art connections in 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. That also includes certain international and European projects: European studies: Languages and cultures in contact, The heritage lives – To revive and live living cultural heritage, ICT in the development of language programs for guides in cultural heritage, Encouraging global/local heritage entrepreneurs: Strategies and tools for uniting powers, protecting localities, using heritage and delivering experiences, IP LibCMASS – library, information and management in culture, DITECUR – digital technologies in researching cultural landscapes, Janković Tower: Historical space, generating sustainable development of the Ravni kotari region, IntSYSTEM – integrated system sources, technology and methods of remote search of historical landscapes, TransStar: Raising the transcultural, digital and multitransitional competences, InHerit – interpretation of heritage for adult learners.
Ipsos is one of the leading agencies for market analysis, media analysis and public opinion research. It has great experience in implementing projects for domestic and foreign beneficiaries coming from different industries, including a number of state institutions. Ipsos is an agency that focuses exclusively on market research and applied social research. The later means that Ipsos offers research on different branches of industry, but also works as a specialized agency for analysing public opinion and measuring customer satisfaction. In the field of public opinion research, Ipsos is the leading agency with more than 60% market share and with over more than a hundred research projects annually for different domestic and foreign beneficiaries. Its speciality is applied social research, noticeable from the fact that Ipsos is the only agency that has a specialized department for sociological research and public opinion research with three permanent employees and two external associates. Ipsos currently hires 60 permanent employees, mostly highly educated. Employee profile of Ipsos’s researchers encompasses people with higher education diploma in the fields of psychology, sociology, economics, mathematics, marketing and IT. Ipsos currently employs 10 sociologists and thus has one of the biggest sociologist research teams. Besides that, since 1998. Ipsos is a joint member of the Gallup International Association for Croatia, which is further evidence of quality. Interviewing ‘’face to face’’ is the main methods used in public opinion research, market research and customer satisfaction research. For successful implementation of this type of research, good organization of external associates which conduct field research is key. Each of the regional coordinators has at its disposal a network of external associates – surveyors for each of the respective areas. Ipsos’s survey network currently numbers more than 500 surveyors across Croatia. All of them have undergone an extensive training, and their work is paid through a number of different research projects. The quality of the network is demonstrated by their ability to conduct 130,000 face-to-face surveys in 2017 only. Survey via telephone that relies on the professional CATI system is also a method that is relatively frequently used by Ipsos to gather quantitative data. For this kind of research, Ipsos is relying on two professional software solutions which completely control the analysis process, from random sampling, data entry, question sequencing, telephone outcome control, telephoning same users and other. All of the mentioned allows for a high-quality and efficient analysis. Web research rely on new technologies of data gathering, and Ipsos has already a decade-long experience using the web. For this kind of research Ipsos has all the necessary equipment, for example, specialized software, servers with Internet connection.

Institute for development and international relations (IRMO) was established in 1963.In its scientific and professional work, the Institute focuses on different forms of interconnectedness of international relations and development tendencies considering political, economic, and socio-cultural aspects. A part of its applied research IRMO is conducting for the requirements of public administration, state administration bodies, agencies and units of local and regional government. In that way, IRMO is guaranteeing a scientific basis and expertise for the development, implementation and evaluation of public policies in a number of areas, from economic, social and cultural, particularly regional development policy, energy and climate change policy, environmental protection policy, cultural policy, media policy, international relations and national security policy.
IRMO’s specific experience in the area of good management and socio-economic development is grounded on more than 20 years of work in interdisciplinary international environment, specific collaborations in the Western Balkan region and several other recent international projects and initiatives. IRMO’s contribution to design and implementation of socio-economic development in Croatia is noticeable from their participation in the development of continuous annual reports on national competitiveness development, the development of county development strategies, urban strategic planning as well as the development of strategic planning for local action groups. IRMO has extended experience in developing strategic framework which consist of operational part – action plans and financial frameworks for the implementation of strategies. MAP Consulting Ltd. is the first Croatian consultancy company specialized for conducting external evaluations in the area of socio-economic development. Since its establishment in 2003, MAP has been participating in the implementation of external evaluation of projects and programmes funded by various international donors (Care International, UNDP, UNIFEM, UNICEF, World Learning, development agencies, embassies, foundations), as well as by the European Union’s projects and programmes (CARDS, PHARE, IPA and ESI funds). Alongside its unique experience in conducting external evaluation, MAP has been actively participating in the development and promotion of the concept of corporate social responsibility. In Croatia MAP has designed and implemented numerous applied research and analysis of public policies, as well as provided technical assistance to public and civil sector in the form of strategic planning and organisational development.
